State Highway Patrol officers have busted another driver doing dangerous speeds in the Campaspe area. They apprehended a driver doing 131 kays an hour in a 100 zone on the Murray Valley Highway at Echuca - on the Anzac Day morning.

The Southern Border Team of the RFS is working on a hazard reduction burn in and around the Barooga township today. This will affect Quicks Road and Hughes Street - with the fuel reduction to take place from 10am - into the late afternoon. Smoke may be visible in the area - residents are advised to keep their properties closed - and take their washing off the line to avoid possible smoke impacts.

The EPA's encouraging Gv households with wood heaters to starts preparing for winter. Many air pollution problems associated with wood heaters and fireplaces can be minimised by following tips to make heaters safer, cleaner and cheaper to run. Chief Environmental Scientist ANDREA HINWOOD says reducing pollutants and hazards is quite simple.

The Goulburn Murray Irrigation District has launched the Fairflow campaign - to put an end to excessive water contributions to the environmental water holder. They're campaigning for the safe passage of an amendment to reduce the Basin Plan's 2 thousand 7 hundred and 50 gigalitre target by as much as 605 gigalitres. Co-chair DAVID MACKENZIE says if this amendment is disallowed, more water will have been recovered from irrigators.

In the Big V Basketball League - the Shepparton Gators hit the road for thje second weekend in a row - this time they're off to Melbourne to play the Collingwood all stars. Collingwood have won two less matches than the Gators so far this season - both teams are coming off a victory last weekend.

The Murray Bushrangers are making on the Greater Western Victoria Rebels this weekend in the TAC CUP. Our boys have won three consecutive matches - while the Rebels have only won one match from their first four hitouts.
