Spring St cash splash for local Firies

Victorian emergency management volunteers are getting a well-deserved funding boost thanks to the Victorian Government’s $15 million Emergency Services Volunteer Sustainability Grants program.

Hundreds of grant applications for equipment, communications, facility upgrades and community engagement and training have already been received from volunteer organisations across the state.

Labor Upper House Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, today announced dozens of CFA and VICSES units in Northern Victoria would share in more than $2million in funding.

Funding for Goulburn Valley CFA includes:

  • Avenel Rural Fire Brigade - $25,000 for new motor room including shed and concrete driveways. 

  • Benalla Fire Brigade  - $5,436.95 for 2 x Protek 361 nozzle. 2 x Protek 368 nozzle. 1 x Protek 360 nozzle. Hooligan tool. Demolition saw and blade.            

  • Echuca Fire Brigade - $63,558 for Compressor with fill station, two storage cylinders and fill speed control. 

  • District 22 - Shepparton - $29,025.85 for six hose testing trailer. 

  • District 12 Brigades - Seymour - $120,892.53 for Storz conversion for appliances including tankers and quickfills.    

These grants will assist emergency volunteers in Northern Victoria in the crucial work they do in keeping the community safe.

"This is an exciting day for our amazing volunteers in Northern Victoria and I congratulate all our grant recipients and hope that it assists them in the outstanding job they do in keeping the community safe,” Ms Symes said.

“The Andrews Labor Government is supporting the significant contribution of the more than 100,000 emergency management volunteers, investing in equipment, training and facilities to keep our communities safe.

“The Emergency Services Volunteer Sustainability Grants Program has been established to ensure emergency management volunteers can continue to deliver their crucial work, protecting Victorian properties and lives.”
