Tasmania Police have launched a full investigation into the fire at the old Claremont Primary School, treating the case as arson.
At around 3.30pm yesterday(Thursday 31 August 2017), a structure fire was reported at the old Claremont Primary School, located at 34 Cadbury Road, Claremont.
Investigators say two buildings were completely engulfed by fire when the Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) arrived, resulting in extensive damage to the property.
Authorities say there was also minor damage reported to the main building of the school grounds.
TFS conducted a scene examination and determined the fire was deliberately lit with Tasmania Police now commencing investigations into the blaze and events leading up to the alleged arson.
