Marion Bay search uncovers tragedy

One man dead and another two rescued in Tassie boating disaster
A man has died and two others rescued following a boating accident off Tasmania's Marion Bay

Tasmania Police say that as a result of a marine incident that occurred around 7am this morning, 2 adult males were rescued alive by a recreational fisherman.  The males were treated at the Royal Hobart Hospital for mild hypothermia before being released.

A search and rescue operation, utilising the Rotar-lift helicopter and 2 marine vessels, was established to locate a missing 3rd adult male.  The missing male was located deceased a short time later in Marion Bay.

Police say it is believed that all men were wearing life jackets, but they are still unsure exactly what went wrong to cause this tragic event.

Next of kin were notified of the man's death, but at the request of family, no personal details will be released at this time.

A full report is being prepared for the coroner.
