ARMED ROBBERY AT SANDY BAY CHEMIST

Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Terry White Chemist in Sandy Bay yesterday afternoon where a man threatened a staff member with a knife then fled the scene with a quantity of prescription medication.

Around 2pm yesterday a man entered the premises, purchased a quantity of flu medication, and then left the store.

Around 4.15pm the man returned to the premises and approached a staff member with a box cutter knife and demanded prescription medication.

The staff member complied with the offender’s demands and he then fled the scene with a quantity of prescription medication. He was seen walking down Sandy Bay Road past the World’s End Brewpub

He was described as being mid-late 20s, around 180cm tall, medium to stocky build, full brown beard, shoulder length curly brown hair, wearing blue jeans, red scarf, black fedora hat, white and blue sneakers, purple backpack with Simpsons cartoons on it.

The staff member was not physically injured during the incident.
