Tasmania's Marine Conservation Program has urged locals keep their distance from whales currently in Tasmanian waters.
A large southern right whale is resting off Kingston Beach, in the south of the state, but there have be multiple reports of people swimming close to it or even on top of it along with those on jet skis coming dangerously close.
The TMC Program says a safe distance should be observed for the safety and comfort of the creature.
Several people have also taken to social media to highlight the problem
By late morning Tasmania Police appeared at Kingston Beach to ensure the whale was receiving adequate protection from sightseers.
