Dairy Australia has released their Mid-Year Situation and Outlook report.
The data has found local dairy farmer confidence is dropping.
The report focused on the National Dairy Farmer Survey, showing only 39% of South Australian dairy farmers are confident about the future of the industry.
The figure comes in well below the national average of 47%.
Low farm gate prices, high production costs and dry conditions have been named as factors for the low confidence rates.
The news isn't all bad however, data showing farmers are happier with their own businesses; but less so about the industry.
73% of South Australian Farmers surveyed expected to make a profit in 2017-2018.
