The Limestone Coast Wine industry is set to see a boost in support, the sector securing funding through the Coalition Government's International Wine Tourism Competitive Grants Program.
Limestone Coast Grape and Wine Council Inc. have presented the project "Limestone Coast Mixed Dozen Interactive wine trails" to the scheme.
The initiative will involve the development of a central consumer tool or website that promotes tailored visitation experience; including trails, tours and itineraries.
$175,000 in grant funding will be provided from the Coalition Government's 50 million dollar Export and Regional Wine Support Package.
The hope is that the tool will maximise tourism expenditure on the Limestone Coast.
Barker MP Tony Pasin has applauded the funding and the local organisation for their efforts; saying by enhancing the wine tourism experiences for international visitors, we're helping grow wine exports.
