Wattle Range Council Mayor, Peter Gandolfi is encouraging residents from across the entire Council region to attend a public meeting to be held in Millicent next week to establish a Suicide Prevention Network.
“The Wattle Range Suicide Prevention Network aims to benefit the wellbeing of our entire region and interested participants from all towns and communities are welcome” Mayor Gandolfi said. “The aim of the Network is to reach, connect and empower people from all sectors of our diverse region.”
The meeting will be held from 6pm to 7.30pm on Wednesday, January 31 in the Millicent Civic & Arts Centre Supper Room.
As a community led endeavour, a Suicide Prevention Network works towards reducing the stigma of suicide, encouraging community connectedness, and providing information and education regarding available help for the communities of Wattle Range.
At the meeting Dave Thompson from SA Health will talk about what Suicide Prevention Networks are and what they are already doing to help prevent suicide in their communities.
There will be a Q&A session at the end of the presentation and a light supper will be provided.
