Planning a burn off? Be considerate of your Neighbours

The Wattle Range Council have asked farmers in the region to be considerate of their neighbours when burning off over the next few months after concern smoke could be damaging to vineyards.

The Council say the wine industry has genuine concerns the smoke might affect the quality of their grape rendering them and making them unfit for consumption and sale once they're made into wine.

They say the highest potential for smoke uptake occurs between when the grapes soften to harvest in March to Early May.

Farmers are advised to check in with wine producers if they're in close proximity and planning a burn.
