The Limestone Coast will soon become a world-leading specialist seed processing hub, with a 5.4 million dollar plant set to be constructed in Naracoorte.
South Pacific Seeds are spearheading the build, creating ten new ongoing full-time equivalent positions and an additional 12 during construction.
The group produce a range of high value vegetable seed crops for global market, the plant is hoped to create 10 full time equivalent positions when built in Naracoorte.
The organisation will also have the chance to contract additional Limestone Coast growers to supply seeds to the Lucindale Road plant for processing and export.
The organisation has seen support from the State Government Regional Development fund, with $300,000 going towards Stage 1 of the overall project.
The first seeds are expected to be exported from the Lucindale Road plant for by the end of the year.
