A Photography Series About Everyday Mackay Lottery Players

Portrait Photographer Rhett Hammerton, will be creating a photography series of Aussie lottery players to capture the dreams, rituals and motivations of everyday people who hope to win the lottery.

Rhett said that he is looking forward to meeting and documenting the residents and visitors in the Mackay area before continuing the project across the state. 

My vision is to develop portrait-based archives around activities that we may not deem as culturally important that illustrate the commonalities inherent in contemporary Australia. I believe the ritual of purchasing a weekly lottery ticket, and the dreams that accompany it, embodies this vision.
