Jay & Dave's "Scrooge" holiday activities
Keep the kids happy on the cheap
It's the start of the kid's holidays and they're bored already. No sweat, Jay &Dave are here to help without anything costing you a cent (and with some of the activities, you can get the kids to help around the house too).
KID'S MASTER KITCHEN RULES
Sure, the rugrats will make a bit of a mess, but turn that frown upside down - firstly, they are making you lunch. And secondly, you can then play the "clean up the kitchen" game and hand out a prize who does the quickest job!
MY BEDROOM MAKEOVER
You might need a bit of prep on this one. Sit the kids down to watch one of those TV shows where they make over a room. Then say "hey, how about a game of My Bedroom Makeover?" And if they do it, you'll be giving yourself a pat on the back!
WATCH OTHER PEOPLE GO FISHING
The Breakwater might be closing early in the new year to cars, but there's still going to be people going fishing off the rocks. The best bit about taking the kids to watch, you don't need to invest in rods or reels. And most of the time you don't see anyone catching much anyway.
LAUNDRY DAY GAME
This is exactly how it sounds - get the kids to do your washing. And once done, the payoff is a quick ride on the Hills Hoist merry-go-round.
BIRD WATCHING
Just give them a pair of binoculars. Or nanna's glasses. Sorted.
TAKE PHOTOS OF THE RAIN
Hey, we're in wet season. Make it challenging for the kids - offer ten bucks if they can get a rain drop without the picture being blurry!
CAR WASH ATTENDANT GAME
After the rain, the car's going to need cleaning. Put the little ones to work for their pocket money!
That's just a few ideas. Don't worry, we've got more leading up to the last show of the year on December 22!
