It's about to start feeling a lot like Christmas. Council will begin work installing Christmas decorations around the region from this weekend.

Residents will start to notice Christmas trees and decorations popping up in Mackay, Sarina, Marian, Mirani, Walkerston and Calen over the next month.

Traffic disruption will be minimal. However, council will carry out a road closure of the west bound lane of Victoria Street between Sydney and Gregory streets on Sunday, November 19, from 4.30am to 9am.

Residents may also notice new Christmas flags being installed in Gordon, Sydney and River streets, which will add to the festive spirit.

In the interest of public safety, motorists are asked to obey all signage and the instructions of on-duty traffic controllers. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused while decorations are being installed.
