Minister for Main Roads Mark Bailey is in Mackay today to mark the commencement of work on Mackay Ring Road’s Stage One. CPB Contractors will undergo the works in three stages. It's hoped to reduce traffic demands on Nebo Road by missing 10 signed intersections on the previous route and will allow for 80 and 100 kilometre speed limits

Residents around Midge Point are experiencing discoloured water. A council spokesperson says it's happening at several locations. Council crews may still be in the area today flushing the mains and assessing other measures that need to be taken to address the issue.

The Cancer Council has launched its annual Girls night in fundraiser. It all kicks off tonight and locals are encouraged to jump online and order their own pack to host more parties. According to CCQ Regional Fundraising Coordinator Zenta Martin-Spzyt cancer rates are dropping and with more funds these numbers will continue to fall.

Mackay Regional Council has met with the public in an evening meeting regarding the Sarina Pool community access issue. After numerous meetings with department boards mayor Greg Williamson says we're likely to see a positive outcome in just two weeks.
