Local Whitsunday boy, Connor Howse has become an honorary member of the Whitsundays Water Police after his VIP visit in early July.

Connor was diagnosed with neuroblastoma five years ago and as a result, has faced intensive chemotherapy, major surgery, a bone marrow transplant, radiotherapy and six months of immunotherapy. He went into remission eight months after being diagnosed.

Whitsunday police officer, Sergeant Simon Walter attended a fundraiser for Connor and learned that Connor viewed police officers as heroes in the community. Sergeant Walter then called his Offer in Charge, Senior Sergeant Nathan Blain to organise a VIP tour for Connor.

Connor visited the Whitsunday police station with his mother, Rhiannon Howse, and even got a turn at taking charge of the police vessel!
