A Sarina man accused of a violent bag snatch has had his bail refused again. The 23 year old allegedly dragged a woman along the ground when he tried to steal her handbag. He has already served seven months in prison with his case now postponed until April. There are concerns he will serve more time in prison than his sentence

Mackay and Proserpine cane farmers and vegie growers have met with the Ag and Water resources minister. David Littleproud visiting reps from Canegrowers Proserpine and Mackay Sugar last week, hearing their concerns. It comes as a review of the Sugar Marketing code of conduct nears. Dawson MP George Christensen says unfortunately, monopoly in the industry is the way it's always been.

Mackay's new skate park will be named in honor of the sugar industry. Of the 34 names suggested - the sugar bowl Mackay was the preferred option. The new $2.2 million park will be built near the PCYC off Norris Road. The Sugar Bowl is set to be open in August

 

Throw on your running shoes Mackay. The twilight Marina Run is kicking off tonight to raise funds for the Leukemia Foundation. Registrations are open to all from 5pm with the run, walk, stroll kicking off at 6.
