A man has been charged after allegedly driving his car into a group of people in West Mackay. It is alleged the man drove into the front yard of a home on Perry Street just after 3 on Saturday morning allegedly hitting a 25 year old man. The driver then is believed to have reversed and fled the scene. The injured man was transported to Mackay Hospital with minor injuries. A 30 year old man has been taken into custody

Police are investigating a suspicious fire in South Mackay. There were burn marks on the front door with Police called to the home just after 5 on Sunday morning. There has been no major damage to the home, but it is thought to have been deliberately lit. Cancer journeys are often stressful times - a new workshop in Mackay is hoping to offer some relief. Nominations are open until tomorrow to attend Cancer Council QLDs Relaxation Workshop. It will be held on March first from 10am at the ICON Cancer Centre. Cancer Support Coordinator Anthea Skinner is excited to introduce the workshops to Mackay.

Mackay council are excited to showcase inspiring stories about local women. It’s all part of Queensland Women’s week celebrated from March 3-11. The celebrations will recognize the contribution of local women who often fly under the radar. Stories can be submitted on the Council’s website.

 

Mackay Cutters found their groove against the C-Q Capras. The boys played with heart right out of the gates putting points on the board early in Saturday’s match. They walked away with a tidy 34-12 win leaving the Capras devastated ahead of the Intrust Super Cup kick off next month. 

Magpies Crusaders lose their chance to stick it to Western Pride. Wet weather led to the last minute decision by Football Queensland to postpone last Saturday's game. The Pride will now make tracks back to Mackay to play the game on the 21st July
