Gibons Road will be temporarily closed for roadworks. Starting today all access will be shut off until the second of August. Off road access will be provided for CANE HAULAGE however access to the PEAK DOWNS HIGHWAY will be via other routes.

 

A public meeting is being held in MACKAY to discuss labour hire laws. Labor member for DAWSON Belinda Hassan will join the FEDERAL Shadow Assistant Minister for Workplace Relations LISA CHESTERS and Senator Anthony Chisholm at the Harrup Park Country Club from 6. Ms Hassan is calling the meeting to talk with residents about unfair labour hire practices and the abuse of 4-5-7 visas.  

MACKAY FOOTBALL Park officially opens after massive upgrades. The six hundred thousand dollar project supports grassroots sport and aims to help bring a touch of World Cup fever to MACKAY. It'll also mean MACKAY REGIONAL SOCCER ZONE will be able to host the inaugural Football Queensland Community Cup

 

Virgin announces new flights to the WHITSUNDAYS. Three extra flights per week were announced over the weekend to run Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. The extra flights will add over 54,000 seats per year and bring more than thirty million dollars into the region

CLASSICAL MUSIC is at its finest in MACKAY this weekend. The MACKAY CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL is starting this FRIDAY night at the MASONIC TEMPLE. ARTISTIC DIRECTOR GLENN CHRISTENSEN says show goers will know some of the music being played

The MACKAY METEORS hold on to their spot at the top of the QBL Leaderboard. Downing Gladstone Port City Power at a spirited home game over the weekend. The men’s side managed to walk away with a massive 41 point lead. The final score standing at 103 - 64

 

MACKAY CUTTERS walk away defeated after a shocking home game clash. Facing off against EASTS TIGERS at BB Print Stadium the side was messy and couldn't hold it together. They came away with a 44-10 defeat leaving them stranded at the bottom of the leaderboard once more.
