A cat uncovers a thief in Mirani. Black Cat came inside around 10:30 Saturday covered in engine oil. With something a little off his owner walked to the nearby back shed to find the door had been opened. A tray of engine oil had been spilled showing footprints and paw prints from a suspected burglar and their dog

Police are looking for a man after a reported burglary in Walkerston. Just after 4am on Monday someone searched a business allegedly stealing cash. The incident was caught on CCTV with the footage being released to the public to aid in tracking down those responsible. Anyone with information is asked to contact Walkerston Police

Mackay receives its first PET-CT. The machine helps  doctors figure out the extent of the spread of cancer and create treatment plans. It helps with early and more . Acurate detection of tumors, reducing the need for unnecessary surgery and increasing survival rates. Previously patients have had to travel to Townsville every three months to access one

Thousands of mining jobs could be at risk in Mackay. It comes after Labor has attacked the Adani coal project. Minister for Resources Matt Canavan says they're not doing anything to gain the trust of locals.

Mackay residents are being urged to adopt the marine debris tackle bins. They are designed to stop birds and wildlife being injured or killed by stray fishing line and hooks. Adopting a bin means you would regularly empty it and record any major hazards. The first bin up for adoption is at the Pioneer River Boat Ramp. More Tackle Bins may also be installed at Mackay Harbor and Victor Creek if adoptees come forward

Softball in Mackay is going from strength to strength. The Mackay Regional Council announcing the 2018 Under 17s Boys State Championship will be held here later this year. The event will bring 400 participants and supporters from around the state
