A few sheds have been burnt down in Koumala while the residents were away. They returned home yesterday afternoon to find only charred remains. The incident on Lally Road is being treated as suspicious. There are reports there's been a possible burglary but police are yet to confirm. Investigations are ongoing.

Mackay, Whitsundays and Isaac region will receive shares in $10 million dollars as part of the building better regions program. It's the first time in the history of the Greater Whitsunday Alliance there's been three allocations of funding. Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson says the drain funding sounds mundane but it's a lot of money

 

The mould problem at the Mackay Base Hospital could be down to old air conditioners. They're set to be replaced at the women's health and children's units following recommendations being made in an independent report. 

Aqua fun Park Mackay is set to return. The Federal Government stumping up the cash for the floating inflatable park. A 150 thousand dollar grant has been approved for Trinity Youth and Community Services which will work with Mackay Aqua Park to buy the equipment and reestablish the park. 

Mackay locals will be able to spot some unusual aircraft in the Mackay skies over the next couple of weeks. The joint United States and Australian military Talisman Saber exercise is underway. There'll be plenty of activity at Shoalwater Bay while some of the aircraft being used are based in Townsville with them also set to use the Mackay Airport.

 The Mackay Cutters will go head to head with the guys from down south this weekend. Its an away game for our boys but they're hoping to claim a triple double win. Coach Steve Sheppard says East Tigers won't be going easy on them.

 The Mackay Meteors and Meteorettes will tonight take on sides from down south. They'll battle it out against the USC Rip City in Round 11 of the QBL. It's a home game for our guys.
