A 40 year old man is facing a raft of charges after a 46 year old was allegedly hit by a car outside Souths Suburban Bowls Club. The 46 year old is now stable after being rushed to the Mackay Base Hospital in serious condition. The accused is due in court today charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm while intoxicated and more.

No one's hurt following a car and trailer rollover at Carmila. It happened just before 3 yesterday afternoon -- partially blocking the Bruce Highway for several hours.

Police are on the lookout for a man who alleged took off with cash from a service station in Ooralea. It's alleged the masked man entered the shop on Boundary Street and demanded money from the attendant who complied before taking off on Saturday night. He's described as Caucasian, aged in his thirties with a solid build and was wearing a grey t-shirt, dark coloured pants, a black face mask and baseball cap.

It seems Cyclone Debbie is still delivering the Whitsunday region some surprises this time of a more slithery kind. A 12-year-old girl and a 60-year-old woman were airlifted to Mackay Base Hospital from Proserpine after being bitten by snakes on Saturday.

A local MP is calling for a halt to all foreign aid in the wake of Cyclone Debbie. Dawson MP George Christensen says it's an insult to people who have already suffered horrendous losses to then be abandoned by those who are supposed to help He claims cyclone victims are struggling to access government payments while billions of dollars are being sent overseas.

More than eight per cent of 15-year-old girls in Mackay aren't completing the full vaccination against the human papillomavirus. Cancer Council Queensland CEO Chris McMillan says it's not good enough.
