Mackay's dance teacher Diane Smedley has been found safe and well. Her phone turned on yesterday and sent a ping to her son’s ‘find me iPhone app'. The 59 year old was found in Glenella at a camp next to a creek. She's been missing since Monday.

Local MP George Christensen is giving the Government an ultimatum. He says if the feds don't stand up for cane grower in their battle with Wilmar Sugar he may as well be politically 'dead' in his electorate. He says he might not bother running at the next election under the LNP banner.

Some police officers are thanking they're lucky stars they're uninjured after an unsecure branch struck their windshield. They were traveling between Mackay and Rockhampton when the branch left the truck in front of them and smashed through the windshield.

A heatwave is sweeping the State this weekend and we won’t completely escape it in Mackay. The Bureaus predicting temps of 32 degrees on Saturday and Sunday and 35 on Monday. Meteorologist Lauren Pattie says we can expect some clear skies and increasing temps over the weekend 

LOCAL SPORT

Mackay's Rugby League Super star is kicking goals. Renae Kunst helped her Australian Jillaroos side to a win over the Kiwi Ferns at the Auckland Nines but will play in the All Stars game tonight.

The Australian Country Hockey team will have the helping hand of a Mackay local. Steele Pearce is set to play with them when they compete in Hong Kong and Vietnam.

AFL Mackay pre-season carnival nominations are now open. While they close on Monday. AFL Mackay President Gary Downes says they recently had a Pre-Season Conference.
