A teenager has been rushed to the Mackay Base Hospital after being accidentally shot. It happened at a private property at Devereux Creek on Saturday night. The 17 year old has hand and leg injuries and police say although it was an accidental discharge of a firearm they're still investigating the circumstances.

While two people have ended up in hospital following a two vehicle crash at Mount Pleasant. A four-wheel-drive ute and sedan colliding at the Bruce Highway and Phillip Street intersection just after 9:30 on Saturday morning. A man and a woman in her twenties were taken to hospital.

A boat has gone up in flames on the water at Airlie Beach. Police, Firies and Volunteer Marine rescue receiving the call to attend the scene just after 10:30 on Saturday. Luckily no one was on board and the boat was towed to shore and sunk off Almora inlet.

We're getting a harsh wake up call as part of NATIONAL DIABETES WEEK. In Mackay around 6800 people have been diagnosed but scarily another 3000 don't know it yet. Diabetes Queensland CEO Michelle Trute says it's not just people that are older or heavier that are at risk.

NBN has reached the halfway point of its build with Mackay being hailed as one of the most connected parts of the country. Local Mackay homes connected to the network are downloading on average around 144GB of data each month, 20% more than the national fixed-line broadband average. LOCAL SPORT 

The Mackay Meteors and Meteorettes are celebrating wins in round 11 of the QBL. They both took out USC Rip City at the Crater on Saturday night. The Meteors getting on top by seven points and our girls scoring a 17 point victory.

While the Mackay Cutters are home defeated in round 18 of the Q cup. They lost to the Easts Tigers 34 points to 10. Nicho Hynes and Lona Kaifoto our try scorers.
