Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a 28-year-old woman reported missing from South Mackay. Carlee Coleman was last in contact with friends on March 30 and she has not been seen or heard from since then. It is believed Carlee travelled to Airlie Beach in a 2002 maroon Holden Commodore sedan, similar to the below pictured vehicle, bearing Queensland Registration 842VBY. Police and Carlee’s family hold concerns for her welfare as she suffers from a medical condition. Carlee (pictured) is described as Caucasian, 173cm tall with a slim build, tanned complexion, blonde hair and blue eyes. She has both sides of her nose pierced and is known to wear a lot of jewellery. Police urge anyone who may have seen Carlee or the maroon Holden Commodore to contact them immediately.

Day Dream Island will be closed for over a year in the wake of Cyclone Debbie. Management deciding to bring forward their planned 50 million dollar refurbishment in 2018 to later this year. Daydream Island Resort general manager Dawson Tang says it's not feasible to spend money on reopening the island for only a couple of months before it closes again for the refurbishment.

For the second time in just 12 months, scientists have recorded severe coral bleaching across huge sections of the Great Barrier Reef including in the Whitsundays. It follows aerial surveys being completed last week. Professor Terry Hughes says the bleaching’s drifted south.

The Airlie Beach Lagoon is expected to be closed to the public for the next month. Council will be draining it and undertaking repairs in the way of the cyclone. The pools suffering damage from debris and a sewerage overflow.

Circus Oz is exploding back on stage at the MECC. They'll be performing their new show "Model Citizens" on the 29th and 30th.. Acrobat Freyja Edney says the company's come a long way.

LOCAL SPORT

Cyclone Debbie won't stop the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week 2017 event from going ahead. It's still planned for August and will proceed as scheduled.

While the Whitsunday sharks netball girls are nursing some loses. They went down to both the Marlins and the Magnetic North Stealcats in round four of the Queensland State Netball League.
