A 75 year old Mackay man is facing charges following investigations into a money laundering scam targeting computer users. It's alleged he set up three companies that became a fake overseas computer repair company's local rep to receive funds After being convinced their computer needed repairs victims would download a ransomware virus and then have to pay money to a Mackay-based bank account to see their computer unlocked. It's alleged the 75-year-old transferred more than $1M dollars to a number of overseas entities between 2010 and 2017.

Police are looking for the offender responsible for an unprovoked assault on Wood Street. It happened when a 43 year old was attacked when they was standing outside a licensed venue at around 2AM last Friday. Police say they lost consciousness for some time and was taken to hospital and they're asking anyone who may have seen anything to come forward.

The LNP will resurrect our Agriculture Energy & Water Council if elected at the next state election It means local cane growers will have a seat at the table to reduce crippling power costs for agriculture. Whitsunday's MP Jason Costigan it'll help tackle issues such as tariff reform & spiralling prices.

 A new fixed wireless tower is set to be switched on at Marlborough Sarina in the coming weeks, giving locals access to high-quality, reliable broadband. Under 12 Crusader's football player Orlando Corrie is home from the AC Milan Italy tour in high spirits after helping his side to some wins. Now he's in an under 12's school team headed to Hervey Bay at the end of July.
