A man is being charged with nine counts of stealing and three counts of attempted stealing after taking to businesses and banks across seven towns including in Mackay. Police allege he approached a teller or counter staff to exchange ten 100 dollar notes to 50 dollar notes. It's then alleged he asked for a different denomination or confused staff before taking off with some of the 100's and all the 50's. Police allege it happened between July 4 and yesterday and they caught up with a 50-year-old Romanian National yesterday who's due in court today.

Dawson MP George Christensen will not play the government's line on the Green Army Program. He's up in arms over the Federal Government’s decision to axe it on June 30 next year after attending a graduation ceremony from the program yesterday.

The Mackay Council is over the moon with a big increase in the number of development applications in June. The Mercury reports it's six times what they received in May with 32 applications being made.

We could have two to two and a half time the usual fuel load around the Mackay Whitsundays region -- ahead of bushfire season. It's due to our region being ripped apart by Cyclone Debbie. RFS Area Director Andrew Houley says now's the time to clean up and do control burns during operation Cool Burn.

The Mackay Cutters will go head to head with the guys CQ this weekend. It’s a home game for our boys as they celebrate their 10 year Anniversary. Coach Steve Sheppard says the Capras won't be going easy on them.

Up to 10 offshore superboats will be in Mackay this weekend. It's for round one of the Australian Offshore Superboat Championships. They action will kick off out the front of the breakwater at Mackay Harbour tomorrow.

Overnight temperatures falling to between 10 and 14 with daytime temperatures reaching the low to mid 20s.
