Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred this afternoon at Erakala (Mackay). Initial investigations indicate about 5.15pm, a car and a motorcycle were both traveling east on Maraju Yakapari Road when the two vehicles collided. The male rider of the motorcycle was transported to the Mackay Base Hospital in a critical condition however later died. Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, in particular the driver of a red vehicle that was in the area a short time earlier. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Two people are recovering from injuries following two separate dog attacks in the region. Ambo's attending both incidents in Slade Point and at the Mackay Oz Care Men’s Hostel over the weekend.. A 43 year old man suffering a deep wound to his arm in the first attack.

The latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund is being spread around. $14M of funding going towards 700 community groups around Queensland including more than 30 groups in the Mackay and Whitsunday region.

Adapting with the times is a key focus at this year's Queensland small business week. A range of experts will be delivering key research and looking at new ways to diversify your business. Residents can register at business.qld.gov to be part of the master classes held at the Mackay Turf Club on Wednesday Minister Leeanne Enoch says it's these businesses that are vitally important in our region.

We're all invited to dance our way into the record books at the MECC on the 25th. They need at least 250 people to get involved to break the record for the most amount of people participating in a tap dance class in a single venue.

 LOCAL SPORT

 Organisers of the Nebo Rodeo are over the moon after seeing the biggest crowd yet at the weekend. They had to turn spectators away on Saturday night after they reached full capacity at 6 thousand. Tristian Braden took out the Bull ride.

The Mackay Cuttters came close but couldn't get it over the Redcliffe Dolphins at the weekend. It was two-all at half-time but in the end the dolphins got on top of our Cutters boys 14 points to 6.

Mostly sunny. Light winds becoming easterly 15 to 20 km/h in the early afternoon then becoming light in the late afternoon.
