Our regions set to get a drenching. A flood watch is still current from Tully to Gladstone and there’s a strong wind warning for the Mackay coast. Mackay and the Whitsundays could see some of the heaviest falls but Meteorologist Shaun Fitzgerald says the rain won't hang around for too long.

A Climate council report is revealing the proposed Adani coal mine -- South West of Mackay would contribute to the region producing more carbon emissions than Australia currently does. The report claims if all the region's mines were developed -- they would make so much pollution that, if it the area were a country, it would be in the worst 15 nations in the world. Mackay's been named the maintenance hub for the Adani project.

Local cane growers are awaiting a deal between Wilmar and Queensland Sugar limited. It's reported they're planning on finalising the on-supply agreement this week.

Local police are looking for some late night thieves who tried stealing two cars. Police say the three crims were disturbed while breaking into the cars parked in a driveway on Upton Avenue in Andergrove and took off. It happened at around 11:30 on Tuesday night and they're asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.

A local business has been awarded the contract for Mackay Ring Road works. Vassallo Constructions will be undertaking works to relocate water mains for the project. Dawson MP George Christensen says it's a small component of the large scale works.

 Queensland Labor has formally endorsed Bronwyn Taha as the Labor candidate for Whitsunday in the upcoming state election. The 43 year old coming within 218 votes of securing victory in Whitsunday at the last election.

LOCAL SPORT

AFL Mackay's senior Women’s representative training squad is gearing up to play Capricornia at Rockhampton. They'll go head to head on July one and a member of the Brisbane Lions talent staff will be there as part of the talent ID process.

Organisers of the Whitsunday SUP Challenge are over the moon. The event wrapped up on Saturdays with competitors coming from around the world.

Flood Watch for Southwestern Queensland

Widespread daily rainfall totals of 25-60 mm, with isolated heavier falls with thunderstorms are forecast for areas across southewestern Queensland during Thursday and Friday.

River level rises above the minor flood level are possible based on forecast rainfall.

Catchments at risk include the Bulloo and Paroo river basins, and parts of the Warrego River and Cooper Creek basins.
