A 36-year-old man is facing a string of drug related charges after police allegedly discovered an elaborate cannabis hydroponics set up in Nebo. A grow room was allegedly hidden inside two false wall concealments. The accused is due to front the Mackay Magistrates Court on August the 17th.

Mackay Police are on the lookout for yet another stolen car. They say the white sedan was taken from a home in Piccolo Street in North Mackay just after 4am yesterday morning. It's understood the crook entered through the front door of a unit and found the keys, removed the car seat and half a pram from the car and took off. Police are asking anyone who has any information on the offence to call crime stoppers.

Claude ‘The Mowerman’ Harvey is mowing his way to Townsville from Rockhampton, set to pass through Mackay on the 30th. He set off yesterday, hoping to raise $1M for child protection organisation Bravehearts. Claude says the journey so far has been interesting..

The three Mackay Sugar mills have so far crushed over 975 thousand tonnes. Racecourse Mill seeing some down time last week while the Farleigh and Marian mills both completed maintenance days.

While the temps are dropping across our region over the next few days. It's set to get to 8 degrees in Mackay tomorrow and 10 in Proserpine.

LOCAL SPORT 

The Qantas Australian Men’s Sevens team will play an International Series against Japan in Mackay in August. It’s all part of the build up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games. It kicks off on the 17th with Andy Friend’s side playing a number of games in two days of Rugby Sevens action at BB Print Stadium.

Local AFL players Nathan Peters and Nicholas Proud will be hitting the field for the annual intrastate AFL clash this Saturday. The pair have been named in the North Queensland. NQ Head coach Brad Cooper says it'll be a tough weekend.
