Investigations are continuing after a woman crashed into the Mackay Fire Station on Alfred Street. It's understood she tried taking off but workers at the station restrained her. It happened just before 8:30 on Saturday night and she was taken to the Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition.

While one man was taken to hospital with a suspected head injury earlier following a three vehicle crash on Sams road.

There will be a road closure in Grendon Street in North Mackay today for a police funeral. The funeral of Sergeant Brendan Poustie will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church at noon. Sergeant Brendan Poustie died when hit by a car while jogging almost two weeks ago. The road will be closed from 9am to 2.30pm

Over 8,000 people moved from Mackay over 12 months in 2015 and 16. That’s according to Australian Bureau of Statistics regional migration estimates that indicated just over 58 hundred people came to Mackay.

Despite an overall drop of more than 2 thousand Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson tells the Mercury 10 thousand people could move to Mackay tomorrow. He says our job figures are now a third of the way up that cliff they fell off.

The new oncology centre on Sams Road has set to open in December. The Icon Cancer Centre is hoping to eliminate the need for patients to travel long distances and will deliver chemotherapy -- radiation therapy and treatment for blood disorders.

There’s only one more sleep until the Mackay Show with the ride. The Beast making its debut in the north. Gates open at 9 am tomorrow. Secretary and manager of the Mackay Show Steve Gavioli say it'll be a big one.

 LOCAL SPORT 

The Sarina Crocodiles have snapped up a win over the North’s Devils. It's following three losses. The Crocs finished up on top over the Devils 44 points to 18 in round seven of the local league at the weekend.

While the Meteors are suffering a loss after a long winning streak. They went down to Logan Thunder at the weekend. The scoreboard reading 101 points to 92 in the end. While they did get is over the Gold Coast Rollers 93 points 79.

Mostly sunny. Winds southerly 15 to 20 km/h tending southeasterly 20 to 30 km/h in the morning then becoming light in the evening.
