The Eimeo Pacific hotel is set to sell. The owners Donald and Darlene Stayte say it'll most likely go to developers who could demolish it. It sits on a five-acre beachfront block and there's word of it being shopped around to developers from China and Australia.

A man is due to appear in court next month after allegedly trying to rob a Subway store on Victoria Street. Police allege he told staff he had a knife on Saturday afternoon but in the end it was discovered he was unarmed.

More support to help families in the Mackay and Whitsundays region’s on the way. Mirani MP Jim Pearce says parents in the Mackay, Townsville, Hinchinbrook and Whitsundays regions will benefit from the State Government rolling out $65M of funding. He says it'll also mean 15 new jobs for the region with the support services working closely with families before they hit crisis point.

More and more Mackay locals are seeking the support of RSPCA Queensland’s Pets in crisis program. Michael Beatty from the RSPCA says it's concerning with 9 people needing the program in Mackay last year.

Queensland Health workers are currently spraying around the Mackay region targeting mosquitoes carrying dengue fever. The program will run locally until June 30th.

The MECC will come to life with the KMeia's 25th regional coral festival tonight. Over 400 children from 26 schools across the region will raise their voices Co-ordinator Patty Courtice says it'll be a big event.

LOCAL SPORT

The Walkerston Cricket boys are straight through to the grand final. They're minor premiers after scoring 400 runs in one game, getting the magpies all out for 124 at the weekend.

The QCCS Mackay Cutters are nursing a loss. They went down to the Townsville guys 60 to 12 in Round three of the Q Cup at the weekend.
