The trial of John Peros who's charged with murder will be heard in Mackay this week. It's four years after the death of Mackay woman Shandee Blackburn. The jury finalised yesterday The Supreme Court Judge telling them to only focus on the evidence before the court. Peros pleading not guilty.

A 20 year old South Mackay man is being charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. It's following an alleged incident on Victoria Street in the early hours of Saturday morning. It's alleged a 19 year old was assaulted from behind fell unconscious to the ground and was further assaulted while lying there.

A number of roads around the Mackay regions closed due to flash flooding. The Department of Main Roads and Transport say Hicks Road at Glenella Golf Links Road at Beaconsfield and parts of Mirani Eton Road at Brightly are closed.

The Council will begin work on upgrading the pavilion, carpark and road to Lamberts Beach Lookout tomorrow The 2 month project will see better disabled access, seating and organised parking spaces Councillor Fran Mann is apologising for any inconvenience the construction at the site might cause

LOCAL SPORT

15 year old footballer Jack Fuller's set to play in the premiership division for City Brother’s. The teens got a passion for the game and will play in the center midfield from week one. The City Brothers will be taking on the Mackay Wanderers in their first FFA Cup match this Saturday.

Our AFL juniors are rearing to go following the stellar showings in their final hit-out before the opening match of the season last weekend. In the Under 14's the North Mackay Saints remain undefeated throughout their pre-season games.
