A teenage boy has been rushed to the Mackay Base Hospital after being hit by a car. It happened yesterday afternoon and there are reports he's a Mackay North State High School student. He luckily only has minor injuries.

Police are investigating an incident involving a stolen car in Farleigh. A black Suzuki SX4 has been discovered burnt out in a cane paddock. Police say it was stolen from a Harbour Road address in North Mackay sometime between last Friday and Monday and anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are looking for a thief who stole a handbag full of cash cards and keys in just seconds in Proserpine. It's alleged a crim took the bag from a car that was left open out the front of a community centre. The owner of the car was taking down decorations and loading up the car on Saturday night.

17 and a half million dollars is being spread around the Mackay Whitsunday and Isaac regional councils. That’s our share of the 200 million dollar Works for Queensland Program. The money will support more than 500 jobs with Mackay scoring the most at almost 11 and a half million.

The Whitsunday's council is working together with another council on the other side of the country on climate change research. They've signed a Memorandum of Understanding for climate change. Mayor Andrew Wilcox says we're set to learn a lot.

LOCAL SPORT

The Queensland Maroons are headed to Mackay. They're coming for their annual regional Fan Day in June. Maroons Head Coach Kevin Walters says it'll be a jam packed day

Dee McMurtrie from Mackay is swimming -- riding and running her way to success. The 42 year old finishing up on the podium in third place in her first Ironman 70.3 distance at Geelong. . McMurtrie's now qualified for the World champs in Tennessee in September.
