There are reports of 250 homes in Glenden sitting empty and a petitions been launched to see them filled with QCoal workers. Labor's endorsed candidate for Burdekin, Mike Brunker is urging Glencore and QCoal to come to a resolution on accommodation to fill the homes. It comes as the two miners are at a standstill over the deal with each reportedly blaming each other. Glencore owns most of Glenden but QCoal's Byerwen project's set to start mining this year.


Police are on the hunt for a grey 2015 model Suziki Grand Vitara after it was stolen from a shopping centre car park on Phillips Street in Mount Pleasant. Police say it was parked in an undercover area and was taken between a quarter to one and 3:20 on Tuesday afternoon. They're asking anyone with information on the offence to come forward.


Visitors from around Australia are staying longer and spending more in the Whitsundays. That’s according to National Visitor Statistics for the year ending March 2017 Tourism Whitsundays CEO Craig Turner gives us the details.
