Investigations are continuing into a fatal crash in Balberra near Mackay It happened at around 6 on Saturday morning on the Bruce Highway. Police say a car going southbound collided with a motorbike travelling northbound near Campbell’s Ridge Road. 40 year old Charlie Borg from Bucasia was riding his bike home from work and died at the scene. The 48 year woman driving the car was taken to the Mackay Base Hospital and treated for shock.

An 18 year old has been rushed to the Proserpine Hospital following a crash involving a tree. It also happened at around 6am on Saturday but on Conway Road near Proserpine. Ambo's say the male teen had to be freed after colliding with a tree.

"Out of town protesters" from Mackay are being warned to be respectful at Rockhampton's Adani Supplier Roadshow this morning. The warnings coming from Rockhampton Mayor Margaret Strelow. She says we have visitors from out of our region conservation groups coming here to make a scene. Mayor Strelow says Rockhampton has not tried to jeopardise Mackay's interactions with Adani and they'd appreciate the same respect.

Australian four-piece The Rubens are stopping into Airlie Beach. They're kicking off their inaugural North Queensland Summer Tour this week. Band member Elliot Margin says they're coming off a few festivals and family time.

LOCAL SPORT 

The QCCS Mackay Cutters will be under the careful eye of backrower Andrew Davey and newcomer Setaimata Sa this season. They've been chosen as co-captains for the side. The decision was made yesterday following an intense 'torture weekend' camp. Head coach Steve Sheppard tells the Mercury they both have plenty of experience and are genuine leaders.

Proserpine's David Nicholas is training hard in preparation for the World Track Championships in under two months. The paralympian finished up at his first State Titles with two gold medals at the Anna Mears Velodrome at the weekend. Nicholas raced in the able bodied 4 kay Elite Pursuit for the first time and finished with a sixth.
