Four men are happy to be home after they went missing on a four-wheel drive trek in Crediton State Forest. They had no water food or phone service and were saved by an off-duty RACQ-CQ Rescue engineer who was out motor biking. The men's 4WD had become stuck on a fallen log, about 30 klms from the entrance on Saturday afternoon and they were found yesterday morning.

An American Tourist has been airlifted off a cruise ship in the Whitsundays after she broke her pelvis. It's believed the 68 year old fell down stairs on the Voyager of the Seas yesterday morning. The RACQ CQ Rescue landed on the 311 meter ships heli pad at around 11 am and took the woman back to the Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition.

A 28 year old man has an injured leg following a car rollover on Old Seaforth Road at Mount Jukes. It happened on Saturday morning. 

Almost 800 homes and businesses in Mackay now have their power back on after they lost it when a truck crashed into a power pole. It happened the corner of Creek and Pound streets in Walkerston on Friday night and Ergon says there were outages in Alexandra, Mackay, Palmyra and Pleystowe.

The roads damage bill across Mackay will be in the vicinity of $20M - $30M. While costing won’t be known until a final assessment of the road network is finished in June. The full program to complete all works would likely take until mid-2018.

There are multiple services around Mackay and the Whitsundays for Anzac day tomorrow and everyone's invited. A few include the Dawn Service at 5am at Jubilee Park in Mackay and the ANZAC Memorial Park service at Walkerston is also at 5. Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson says thousands will pause to remember.

LOCAL SPORT

The Cutters boys have slashed through the East Tigers pack to claim a win. Our boys finishing up 33 points to 10 in front of a home crowd on Saturday night. They had a slow start but picked up in the second half quickly scoring five tries.

The Gargett Lions Rodeo is being hailed a success especially for Lawson Nobbs who took out the open bull ride.
