A local diving company has been fined following the death of a U.K. tourist during an introductory scuba dive. The company trading as Wings Diving Adventures pleading guilty in a Proserpine Court to breaching its duty under the Safety in Recreational Water Activities Act two year ago. Bethany Farrell had been with a group of friends on the diving tour near Hayman Island when she was separated and from her instructor and later found dead on the ocean floor. The Airlie Beach based charter boat operator was fined $160,000, plus professional and court costs.
