The 70 year old man involved in a truck crash in Nebo last Thursday has died overnight. Police say he died in the Townsville hospital after a truck rolled on the Peak downs Highway and hit a tree.

Mackay locals could see Sydney, Melbourne and Sunshine Coast flights return to the airport. Mackay Airport CEO Rob Porter tells the Mercury passenger numbers are slowing increasing. He says when it’s the right time we will prepare the business case and work with the airlines to get those routes and services back up and running

Police are reminding locals to lock up after seeing 17 reported burglaries in just 24 hours. Police say they happened between Tuesday and Wednesday, mainly in the Mackay Northern Beaches area. Crims taking off with jewellery, alcohol, mobile phone and wallets.

New sea level rise modelling by Coastal Risk Australia is indicating over half of the centre of  Mackay could be inundated by water in a worst-case scenario event. If they're modellings current beachfront homes at the Northern Beaches will also go under in the year 2100.

Local cane growers will pay a $2 a tonne levee to Mackay Sugar Limited. The company's $212M in debt and a decision was reached yesterday with more than 60% of growers wanting to keep the company grower-owned. While they have two years to prove themselves before there's a levy review.

The Heart Pontoon in the Whitsundays is back open for business after being hit by 11 meter waves. It was damaged when cyclone Debbie tore through and the ‘Reefworld’ pontoon is still being repaired. Alyce Carter from Cruise Whitsundays says it's almost like a new pontoon but the experience it the same

 A former Mackay junior will be hitting he field to play on the under 20's Queensland state of Origin side. Mitch Dunn's got the call up after having a year off due to a shoulder injury.

Our Mackay Meteors and Meteorettes will play a few away games this weekend. They're looking to grab some wins over Ipswich, Toowoomba and South West Metro. Toowoomba Coach Anthony Corcoran says the Mackay guys will give his boys a good run for their money on Saturday.
