Tributes are flowing for a 56 year old father of four from Mackay after he died in a crash near Emerald. Gatian Vigliante's truck rolled on the Gregory Highway on Saturday morning and initial reports suggest he was trapped in the truck and suffered a cardiac arrest. Investigations are continuing.

Investigations are underway into a house fire in South Mackay. Firies receiving the call to attend the scene on Lettice Street at around 3:30 yesterday afternoon It took three crews 25 minutes to get the blaze under control.

A woman in her 50's has been injured on the Zipper ride at Show Whitsunday. It's understood she received a severe cut on to her nose before the rise was stopped and medical professionals were called at the weekend.

Mackay's youth unemployment has now reached 10.4%. Shadow Treasurer Scott Emerson assures the LNP have more employment programs coming up closer to the Election. Emerson says it's heartbreaking to see your kids be unemployable.

 Mackay residents can put themselves in the judge’s shoes at a free event looking at 'sentencing in Queensland' this week. Judge for Yourself sessions are being held here on Thursday and Friday by the Sentencing Advisory Council. Council member Helen Watkins says there is a series of three scenario cases available...all filmed by actors or volunteers.

 LOCAL SPORT

The Mackay Cutters have slashed through the North’s Devils to claim a win in round 16 of the Q Cup at the weekend. They finished with a 48 point win over the guys from up north yesterday afternoon. The scoreboard reading 52 points to 4 in the end.

It's good news for our basketball boys as well. The Mackay Meteors finishing 100 points 93 over the Gladstone Port City Power guys in front of a home crowd.
