Moranbah, Clermont, Nebo and Sarina have been named as some of the unhealthiest suburbs. Sarina residents weighed in with 71% of people classed in the "unhealthy weight bracket". A snapshot of the suburbs shows weight is a real problem in the Mackay region. 

Bowen and Collinsville - 67%

Andergrove, Beaconsfield and North Mackay - 66.1%

East Mackay, South Mackay, Mackay and West Mackay - 63.6%

Eimeo, Rural View, Mount Pleasant and Glenella - 63.9%,

Pioneer Valley, Seaforth and Calen - 70.4%

Ooralea, Bakers Creek, Walkerston and Eton - 62.7%

Whitsundays - 65.9%

Carmila, Clairview and all residents in the Isaac region will have to pay for all their water from July 1st. A new water rates coming into effect that means they'll be charged for all the water they use instead of the current system where there's a flat rate and penalties for excess water use. Isaac Council CEO Gary Stevenson says as operational costs and capital investment in the region’s water systems had increased thresholds have been reached thus the new payment system.

 The Department of Transport and Main Roads is undertaking a three-month assessment of Sarina Range Road and they're half way though. They say they level of damage caused by Cyclone Debbie isn't normal and it'll be at least six weeks until engineers come up with a decision on repairs.

Police are looking for a green Kenworth truck that’s been stolen from Ooralea. They say the driver may be traveling north towards Cardwell after taking the B-Double at around 6:30 on Wednesday night It's rego number is 678 WGV and anyone who may have seen it is urged to call crime stoppers.

While Mackay locals have unofficially broken a world record for the Largest Tap Dancing Class. 270 dancers turning up the MECC yesterday to smash it but it’ll take around eight weeks for the record to be official.

LOCAL SPORT

 The Mackay Cutters will go head to head with the Burleigh Bears tomorrow night. Coach Steve Sheppard says he's been working the boys hard this week. Yesopha Kepa will be coming back to the side while Setaima Sa's still in doubt. While they've finally secured Bennett Leslie who's coming from playing rugby 7's overseas.

And the Central Queensland Schools Mountain Bike Championships are on at Rowallan Park this weekend ahead of the nationals next week.
