Captain’s Crossing in Crediton and Mia Mia State Forests are a no go zone for drivers and riders. The warning's coming from police following a number of rescues on the trail recently. They say vandals are continually removing and damaging signs that have been put up saying access is closed. Sergeant Lyndsay Judson says the group rescued on Sunday put themselves in a very precarious position and were probably lucky they were found when they were.

Mackay's Vines Creek Bridges project will be fast-track the construction starting six months early. The Palaszczuk Government spoke in Mackay yesterday and has delivered the $28 million dollar promise. More than $43 million dollars worth of new infrastructure has been brought into the region in preparation. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says local people will be employed to conduct works.

 Love's Jetty at Mackay Harbor is set to go. North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation plan on getting rid of any redundant marine infrastructure including the historic jetty that's not strong enough to take impact from vessels.

Mackay's made the list of the top ten Aussie solar hotspots for installations under 10 kilo watts. It's coming it at number 5 with over 63 hundred solar installations.

The Mayor's annual charity ball is on again next month held at the MECC. The May 6th event will be serenaded by the Luke Geiger Band. All money raised will be spread amongst three charities.

LOCAL SPORT

The Eungella dam will play host to 80 anglers this weekend. They're flocking to the region to compete in the annual World Sooty Grunter Championships. 17 juniors have nominated.

While we'll see plenty of scrapes knocks and action at the Mackay Basketball Stadium this weekend. The Great Barrier Grief roller derby competition's on and will this year is run over three days with skaters coming from across the country to compete.
