A four year old girl has been rushed to hospital with possible head injuries after being hit by ute in South Mackay. Firies say she's ridden a scooter out on to Graffunder Street and had been hit by a car traveling at a low speed yesterday afternoon.

A 25 year old woman is facing a raft of charges after she allegedly blew a blood alcohol reading almost five times the legal limit in Mackay. Police say they final intercepted her on Mangrove Road early Saturday morning after she drove away the first time they tried speaking with her. She'll appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court next month.

The Mackay Base Hospital has mould in several areas. The Mercury reports the hospital and health service has commissioned external consultants to provide advice on the best ways to eradicate the mound. While they say indoor air quality tests show health risk to people is low. The total asset value of the Great Barrier Reef is $56B dollars.

 That’s according to a new report that's assessing the economic, social and iconic brand value together in one study. Great Barrier Reef Foundation Managing director Anna Marsden has dropped into Hamilton Island to deliver the news yesterday

 

There are currently over 29 hundred stroke survivors living in the Dawson region. While it's predicted there'll be over 320 stroke incidents in our region this year. CEO of the Stroke Foundation Sharon McGowan says they're working to see that number decline.

Mackay's playing host to the annual state country football champs. Our Mackay Crusaders under 12’s and under 14's sides will take on 15 teams from around the state. The action gets underway at Mackay Regional Football Zone tomorrow.

The Kuttabul Camelboks are nursing a loss. They went down to the Whitsunday and Proserpine Raiders 24 points to 20 at the weekend. While Mackay cities league boys recorded a massive win over Slade Point.
