There's finally light at the end of the tunnel for a Mackay family who's had to wait almost five months for help from the NDIS. Tyler Flaskas is 20 months old and suffers from a rare mitochondrial condition, thought to be Leigh's Syndrome and may not reach his third birthday. His parent's applied for help from the NDIS before Christmas and only got a reply yesterday when Tyler's dad took to Facebook frustrated and his post was shared over 7 thousand times.

Police are calling on locals to lock their cars to reduce car thefts. From April one through to the 19th. 17 cars were reported stolen across the Mackay district.

The lives of 12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from Mackay will be changed with them undergoing ear, nose and throat surgery. It's thanks to a partnership between CheckUP, Mackay Mater Hospital and Dr Luke Reid with the day surgeries kicking off this week. = Mackay's 20 million Sports Precinct is one step closer with a shortlist of building firm tenders being announced

Council's successful Mackay Pride campaign is now targeting illegal dumping. Those caught dumping illegal waste can face fines of over 24 hundred dollars. Mackay Council's Health and regulatory services manager Craig Sheppard says people should take pride in their region.

The Sarina Waste Transfer Station at Brooks Road will reopen and resume it's normal hours from this Saturday. It's been closed due to flooding caused by Cyclone Debbie.

LOCAL SPORT

The Mackay Cutters will go head to head with the Norths Devils this weekend It’s a home game for our boys but they're hoping to snag another win.  there's no getting in the way of Aiden Krause who was the only Mackay basketball player on the Queensland North team at the Under 18 Australian Junior Championships. He's made his region proud returning home with a silver medal.
