Investigations are underway into a serious assault in Airlie beach. A 28 year old man has serious head injuries and has been flown to the Townsville Hospital. Police allege it happened early yesterday morning when there was an altercation at a bar on Shute Harbour Road resulting in a man punching another man in the face. Police have released images of a man who may be able to help in their investigations and are asking witnesses to come forward.

While investigations are continuing into a serious crash in Paget. It happened on John Vella Drive on Saturday morning when a motorbike rider lost control on a bend and collided with a parked car. The 31-year-old rider from Mount Pleasant’s has serious injuries as a result.

While a 23 year old woman has a broken ankle and leg after falling from a moving coal train South of Koumala. It happened near the Bruce Highway on Saturday morning and the rail worker’s been airlifted to the Mackay Base Hospital.

A local MP is throwing his support behind a coal-fired power station for north Queensland. Dawson MP George Christensen will move a motion for it.

An Electorate Boundary change will see more residents moved out of suburbs in the Whitsundays and into Mackay if approved. The Mackay electorate will also gain a number of voters from Mirani Whitsundays MP Jason Costigan says there's also some changes for country west of Mackay and Proserpine.

The call is going out for Mackay to roll up their sleeves and donate blood National stocks of Type O blood types are running low... over 150 appointment needing to filled over the next month. Red Cross Spokesperson Chris Proctor says there just not after the type 0 blood types

 LOCAL SPORT

There's no getting in the way of our Meteors and Meteorettes. The local basketball sides finishing up with clean sweeps at the weekend -- taking out Ipswich -- Toowoomba and South West metro.

The Cutters boys are nursing a loss in round 12 of the Q Cup. Our boys going down to the Burleigh Bears in front of a home crowd on Saturday night. It was 28 all with ten minutes to go but the Bears finished ahead at full time -- 34 points to 28.
