Police are on the hunt for three suspects allegedly involved in a serious assault in Airlie Beach. It happened outside MacDonald’s on Shute Harbour Road in the early hours of Saturday morning. A 32 year old Mackay man receiving a broken jaw and cuts to his eye as a result while a 55 year old security guard was knocked out.

Everyone's escaped serious injuries following a two car crash in Mirani yesterday afternoon. Police say one person has a bump to the head and some seatbelt injuries and its reported sun in a driver eyes may have caused the collision.

Qualia Resort is back open on Hamilton Island. It's had a makeover following Cyclone Debbie hitting the island hard. It reopened on Saturday.

Proserpine Mill is finally set to start crushing this morning. It's the last one in Mackay to kick things off with the others starting their season in June.

Insured losses from Tropical Cyclone Debbie have almost reached $1 billion. The news comes as the Insurance Council of Australia kicks off this community forums in North Queensland. Campbell Fuller from the Council says they'll be dropping into Proserpine and Mackay this Friday and next Monday

The Magpies are out and about in Mackay. Breeding season runs from July to early December. Local MP Julieanne Gilbert says the birds are extremely territorial and we need to be prepared.

 LOCAL SPORT 

In local rugby league the Norths Devils had to finish the game early at the weekend. Management called the game off and the players left the field with the Norths entering their clash with the Whitsunday Brahmans with only 11 players.

More than 200 Motocross riders are set to flock to the Mackay Junior Motocross track for round 5 of the MPE CQ Series this weekend.
