A former Mackay Doctor is in another Islamic State propaganda video. It was released on Tuesday and the alleged Isis terrorist, Dr Tareq Kamleh is seen holding an assault rifle, urging Muslims to join the Islamic State to fight against the west. He worked at the Mackay Base Hospital in 2013 and police say he's facing being arrested on terror charges if he returns to Australia.

Dawson MP George Christensen is getting behind a multi-billion dollar defence deal. He's one of a number of Queensland Federal coalition MP's lobbying the PM to bring the project to Queensland not Victoria. The Courier Mail reports Land 400 is one of the Defence departments biggest projects in history -- with about 225 combat reconnaissance vehicles being built under phase two. That’s a 5 billion dollar project that would see local manufactures get supply and maintenance work for 30 years.

A RoadTek worker has ended up in the Mackay Base Hospital after a branch fell on him. The man in his 50's was airlifted by the RACQ CQ Rescue chopper in a stable condition following the accident on Blue Mountain Road yesterday

Mackay councillors will visit areas ranging from The Leap and Kuttabul to Ball Bay today. It’s another Council in Community Day. Mayor Greg Williamson says it's mainly about listening to issues.

 The Marian and Farleigh and Racecourse Mackay Sugar mills have crushed over 585,000 tonnes so far, While there was major downtime at the Marian Mill last week due to two boilers needing repairs.

LOCAL SPORT

6 Mackay locals have been selected for the Queensland U18 men’s and women's hockey squads. They're vying to be picked for the final teams headed to the Australian champs in April next year. Montanah Best is on the women's squad and says the comp won't be easy.

While Mackay's Mona Tietie will play in Argentina and New Zealand with the Australian Stockman Rugby Union team. He's just got the call up as they kick off their three week international tour in October.
