A 14 year old Mackay boy has hired a lawyer after falling through the first floor of The Dome in Mackay. Jake Cahill says he was playing with friends in the Dudley Denny City Library outdoor play area last month when he hopped over a little garden bed. He says he fell through a hidden sun-damaged 'plastic skylight.' The fall breaking both heels his left wrist and damaged ligaments in his back. The matter is still under investigation by Workplace Health and Safety and a Notice of Claim has been issued.

Three teens are now facing charges following an alleged crime spree involving a stolen ute in Mackay. Police allege while investigating an initial arson of a car on Saturday night a group of youths drove past in a stolen vehicle. It's alleged they were driving dangerously and damaged a number of police vehicles in the CBD. The stolen ute was eventually discovered on fire early Sunday morning. A 14 year old 15 year old and 17 year old are each being charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and more.

Queensland Opposition Leader Tim Nicholls is in town and he has a plan to bring down Mackay's youth crime rate He says robbery has increased by 80 percent in the region. Mr Nicholls says the LNP will be looking at things like naming and shaming repeat young offenders. He says he's also here to talk about jobs.

Mackay locals are being urged to speak up over new FIFO and stock route network legislation. A Queensland Parliamentary Committee will be holding public hearings on the proposed legislation this week. It's on in Mackay at 9 o’clock on Friday.

LOCAL SPORT

Congratulations are in order for Mackay's Rugby League players Nathan Benson and James Redman. The pair giving it their all at the weekend when they played for Malta and helped them to a win. It was Benson’s debut game with the side and he scored 16 points.

It's our last chance to grab tickets to the Cowboys and Sydney roosters clash in Mackay. There's one week left to get them but the Grandstand tickets went within 30 minutes of going on sale.
