Mackay locals are bracing for jobs with Adani's Carmichael mine finally getting the green light. It's predicted to create 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. Dawson MP George Christensen says the announcement's a cause for celebration. While Whitsunday's MP Jason Costigan says Mackay has missed out again because Labor wants to keep seats in Townsville.

 A 31 year old woman is recovering after exiting a moving car on the Bruce highway near Mackay. It happened yesterday afternoon and she has minor injuries as a result. Investigations are continuing.

The North WILL see lower wholesale power prices according to Energy Minister Mark Bailey. He's hit back at local MP Jason Costigan's claim that a coal-fired power station between Mackay and Townsville is a good idea. Minister Bailey says we're already seeing renewable power's benefit.

 There are calls to see the Sairna Hospital upgraded. It's coming from Mirani MP Jim Pearce who says we need it to meet the growing health care needs of locals. He says he's hoping a refurbishment will be part of the State Budget when it is handed down next week.

We have a second overnight millionaire in the region. A Mackay woman won a Monday Gold Lotto draw a fortnight ago but only discovered she was a million dollars richer yesterday. It follows a retiree from Proserpine winning $2M in Saturday's Gold lotto.

 The Whitsunday Sea Eagles Aussie Rules boys are full steam ahead. They got it over the Mackay Magpies on Sunday, 142 points to 54.

IN Lawn bowls the 2017 pennant season is heating up with Mackay defeating Proserpine over the weekend by three shots.
