A workers village will be one of the first projects to be built for the Carmichael mine project -- South west of Mackay. Adani says once the Native title matter is resolved work will start on a 1500 bed village access roads and air strip. Mackay’s named the project's major operational and maintenance hub.

More international visitors are putting The Mackay and Whitsunday Region on their Australian holiday bucket list. The latest International Visitor Survey for the year ending in March we've seen 48 thousand international visitors come through Mackay and 243,000 to the Whitsundays. Visitors from overseas spent a record $214.9 million in the Whitsundays.
